Course Overview

This course is based on OSHAD and other international practices.  

Confined spaces can be a very dangerous work environment, hence considerable caution and care must be exercised while working in them.. This training course has been developed for those with an occupational requirement to be trained to safely manage work in confined spaces.

Working in confined places poses a lot of risks. This course is ideal to teach supervisors how to ensure that their employees can safely work in that atmosphere, in addition to deal with the hazards that come along with it. Confined space entry supervisors are required to supervise others’ work, sign off on finished projects, and verify that all employees are properly trained and are working in the space safe.

Learning Objectives

Course Outline

Day One
  •  Entering & Working in a Confined Space
  • The WHS Act, Regulations, Confined Space Code of Practice 27 as per OSHAD-SF 
  •  Definition of a Confined Space 
  •  Responsibilities of management, employees, contractors and all parties
  • Strategies for implementing the Confined Space Legislation
  • Typical confined space control measures: tripods, gas detection, ventilation & breathing apparatus review
  •  Work in Accordance with an Issued Permit
  •  Confined space, heights, hot work, excavation permits etc.
  •  Permit contents
  •  Conduct hazard analysis
  • Assessing risk
