Course Overview

This Risk Awareness training involves a combination of theory and practical application. The program provides methodology for understanding all occupational risks through identifying all hazards and risks and implementing controls. Participants will acquire the knowledge and skills required to identify hazards in the work place,  prevent potential accidents and complete each task accident free.

Day One

·         Introduction to Hazard and Risk

o   The important aspects of understanding the conditions that can create unsafe environment by understanding the grass root realities of workplace hazard and risk around us at work

·         Categories of Hazards

o   Participants will be able to list different types of hazards

·         When to Undertake a Risk Assessment

o   Participants will be able to list occasions when to undertake a Risk Assessment

·         Five Steps of Risk Assessment

o   Participants will be able to outline Five Steps of Risk Assessment

·         Probability / Likelihood 

o   Hand on practice on calculating and making the matrix for hazard calculation

·         Hazard Effect / Hazard Severity

o   Factors affecting the severity of hazard and the situation changing regimes

·         Risk Rating, Initial Risk / Residual Risk

o   Assigning a Risk Rating and comparison of untreated Risk to the Risk after applying control measures and the matrix representation

·         Tips to improve your risk assessment

o   Additional tips to do better risk assessment

·         Common Hazards

o   List of common hazards

·         Hierarchy of Controls

o   List of controls w.r.t. the conditions and their applicability against cost and time involved

o   Other considerations while deciding controls

·         Performing Risk Assessment

o   Delegates will make risk assessment on risk assessment form

·         Occupational health and safety management systems – Requirements

o   Delegates will get aware of Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series BS OHSAS 18001:2007 and its all requirements to manage the risk efficiently
